Management of difficult airways

For any patient with respiratory distress, the airway should be evaluated as soon as possible for signs of underlying difficulty.Rapid evaluation of congenital or acquired anatomic defects should be performed initially.Special attention should be paid to patients with facial, head or neck trauma or oral bleeding, gastric contents regurgitation, or oral blistering.
